Piero Mirio Scherer (born in Lucerne, lives and works in Zurich) is a composer, musician and sound artist. He started his musical path as a DJ and has since developed a diverse body of work, both solo and in collaboration. His projects have taken him to stages around the world, from unconventional off-spaces to established concert halls, clubs, and festivals. Notable appearances include the Heart of Noise Festival in Austria, the Center for Art and Media (ZKM) in Karlsruhe, as well as Zurich’s Backslash and Rhizom Festivals.
His sound installations challenge the idea that spaces are mere backdrops. Instead, he reimagines how sound shapes the space and dictates our experience, using everything from detuned drones to fragmented loops. Through an open, exploratory approach, he looks for new ways to experience and understand environments, using a lens of sound, texture, and transformation.
In his performances and installations, Piero manipulates sound in real time, weaving feedback, texture, and distortion into a fluid conversation between space, sound, and listener.
As co-founder of the guerrilla concert series Doxa Shroti, the community studio CB-Lab, and the Rhizom Festival at Rote Fabrik Zurich, he contributes to the diversity of Zurich’s cultural landscape and fosters spaces for knowledge exchange and artistic collaboration.
