HOME WORK INVOLVMENT ABOUT
Piero Mirio Scherer (based in Zurich) is a composer, musician and sound artist. Emerging from a background as a DJ, his practice moves fluidly between solo work and collaboration, club contexts and art spaces.
His projects range from improvised off-locations to concert halls, clubs and festivals – including Heart of Noise Festival (AT), ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe (DE), and Zurich’s Backslash and Rhizom festivals, to name a few.
Working across experimental music, film and theatre composition, and sound installation, his work centers on transformation: how sound bends, erodes, refracts and reshapes spaces of perception. He often works with existing material – found sounds, field recordings and objects – which are continuously reframed and pushed into new constellations. Repetition, rupture, texture and spatial tension form key aesthetic coordinates. Rhythm remains present not as genre, but as physical force.
Piero’s sound installations have been presented at venues such as the Contemporary Culture Lab in Taipei and Kunstraum Toxi in Zurich. In 2024, he composed film scores for Bios Beneath Blind (dir. Kim Allamand) and Fixation (Moving Image NYC).
He holds a Master’s degree in Electroacoustic Composition from the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK). Alongside his artistic work, he co-founded the guerrilla concert series Doxa Shroti and the community studio CB-Lab at Zurich’s Rote Fabrik, fostering shared knowledge, accessible infrastructures and collaborative formats.
